Sean Watkins’ What To Fear is his fifth full-length album under his own name.
Watkins began his musical career with the band Nickel Creek at the age of 12, alongside his sister Sara and mandolinist Chris Thile. He has also collaborated with Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman in Fiction Family, Toad the Wet Sprocket’s Glen Phillips in Works Progress Administration, and Fiona Apple, Benmont Tench, and his sister Sara in The Watkins Family Hour.
On his newest release, Watkins is more fully realized than ever before, his confessional folk songs augmented with cello and mellotron, in addition to dazzling bluegrass licks, which demonstrate his intimate knowledge of the fretboard.
What To Fear was co-released with SipMusic Club, and paired with a bottle of Lompoc Wine Factory’s 2012 Carignane – a red wine, on December 10th, 2017.
Chris Lambert opened the show.
